This website is owned and operated by On the Road Books. These Terms set forth the terms and conditions under which you may use our website and services as offered by us. On the Road Books complies with Australian Consumer Law. This website offers visitors the ability to purchase products for delivery to postal addresses. By accessing or using the website of our service, you approve that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
PURCHASER’S RESPONSIBILITY
When buying an item, you agree that:
- (i) you are responsible for reading the full item listing before making a commitment to buy it
- (ii) you enter into a legally binding contract to purchase an item when you commit to buy an item and you complete the check-out payment process.
The prices we charge for our products are listed on the website. We charge in Australian dollars and you agree to pay the price displayed at the time you order. Discounts only apply if they are included in your order and we will not backdate discounts. We reserve the right to change our prices for products displayed at any time, and to correct pricing errors that may inadvertently occur. ACCURACY AND AVAILABILITY OF PRODUCT
Due to the secondhand nature of our products, we cannot always guarantee that the edition/version/artwork depicted on our website will match that of your final product. This is due to our automated system which displays the most commonly found cover artwork of a product. We will always endeavour to show our products as accurately as possible, but cannot always guarantee this.
As we often stock individual items, we may occasionally be unable to fulfil your order. In this instance, we will refund you the cost of the item (and any relevant shipping fees).
returns and refunds period
Our refund and returns policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have passed since your purchase, we can’t offer you a full refund or exchange. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, and we also require a receipt or proof of purchase.
refunds
We pride ourselves on selling high-quality products. If you are unsatisfied with the quality of the product that is delivered to you, we are happy to provide a full refund (minus any shipping costs). Please contact us to discuss this.
Exchanges
As we sell pre-owned items, we often only have single stock of items that we sell. Therefore, we cannot replace items if they are defective or damaged. However, we are always happy to exchange a defective item for one of similar value.
shipping & delivery
We operate three different shipping methods:
- (i) free delivery for certain postcodes within metropolitan Melbourne.
- (ii) courier delivery to all postal addresses throughout Australia. Please note that this service CANNOT SEND TO PO BOXES OR PARCEL DELIVERY BOXES – you must enter a physical address to receive delivery.
- (iii) Express Post via Australia Post within 2 business days. Standard Australia Post rules applu. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your purchase to reach you may vary.
It is the responsibility of the purchaser to provide correct postal information at the time of placing your order. If delivery is not possible due to circumstances outside of our control (incorrect address, weather or natural disaster), we will endeavour to do our best to organise for re-delivery. This may incur additional cost that must be covered by the purchaser.
Privacy
On the Road Books is firmly committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and the personal information of your customers. By using this website, you acknowledge and agree that our collection, usage, and disclosure of this personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy.
third-party services
In order to provide our services, we utilise several third-party services such as Sendle (for couriering packages), WooCommerce (for processing payments), and other providers that may offer some functionality. To ensure these services work effectively, we may need to provide them with some customer information, such as names, phone numbers and postal addresses. We do this in accordance with our Privacy Policy and to the bare minimum to provide our service.
subscriptions
When you purchase a subscription service from us, you agree to receive the service for the full period indicated at the point of purchase. You can cancel a subscription at any time, but we will not offer a refund on the initial purchase.
We allow subscriptions to be purchased as a gifts. If we do so, the person responsible for payments and fees is the person who initially purchased the gift subscription.

This website is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. To display information about the products that we sell, we will often use content that has been produced by other individuals/companies – predominantly this is related to images that show the front cover of books. On the Road Books does not own any copyright on these images, and only uses them to indicate the product being sold.

These terms and conditions and any information that we exchange under them are confidential. You must not disclose them except: (i) to the extent strictly required in connection with legal proceedings or a dispute resolution procedure relating to these terms and conditions; or (ii) if the information is generally and publicly available otherwise than as a result of a breach of this agreement or another obligations of confidence.
Retention of right to change offering
We may, without prior notice, change the services; stop providing the services or any features of the services we offer; or create limits for the services. We may permanently or temporarily terminate or suspend access to the services without notice and liability for any reason, or for no reason.

You agree to indemnify and hold On the Road Books harmless from any demands, loss, liability, claims or expenses (including attorneys’ fees), made against them by any third party due to, or arising out of, or in connection with your use of the website or any of the services offered on the website.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, On the Road Books assumes no liability or responsibility for any (i) errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies of content; (ii) personal injury or property damage, of any nature whatsoever, resulting from your access to or use of our service; and (iii) any unauthorized access to or use of our secure servers and/or any and all personal information stored therein.
Right to change or modify terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms from time to time at our sole discretion. Therefore, you should review these page periodically. When we change the Terms in a material manner, we will notify you that material changes have been made to the Terms. Your continued use of the Website or our service after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
